In 2016, Hayley Williams and Brian O’Connor started GDY as friends and longtime collaborators, not knowing it would become a global community of color and creativity.
As the longtime MUA and hairstylist of Hayley Williams, Brian O’Connor styled the iconic fiery neon orange hair you know and love from Paramore’s Riot! era.
Brian created Hayley’s signature look with a custom mix of shades from multiple brands, but he never shared his secret until he could finally bottle his own formula into one tube.
In 2014, Hayley showed Brian a page from her journal: a brand name, a sketch of packaging, and a big idea.
In 2016 the two launched Good Dye Young, and Riot was one of the first shades to make it to the shelf. Putting Riot into a tube was just the beginning.
The secret formula became Riot, the first color they bottled, and it is still the flagship. The other two are true stories, just other shades and other heads: the pink is Ex-Girl, named for Gwen Stefani’s hair, and Brian really has colored for Fall Out Boy.
Instead of settling for messy semi-perms that sacrifice quality, hair health, and longevity, Hayley and Brian decided to make something better.
